While the filters are good and the app is relatively easy to use, it is quite disappointing that the images it produces have substantially fewer pixels than the input images. On my iPhone 4, if I start out with a 5 megapixel image from the Camera app, I end up with at most only 2 megapixels, and sometimes only a half a megapixel! If I start out with an 11 megapixel image from ClearCam (great app, BTW), I end up with only a few megapixels. Other "photo filter" apps preserve all the pixels, producing images with as much resolution as they started with, so I cant understand why Photo fx scales the images down so much.

I dont understand why people give it bad reviews

Best photo editing app ever, great range of filters, Im no editing expert but its great to play around with, it makes photos more fun, and its just plain fun to edit. Great user interface, easily navigable. Idk why it gets any bad reviews, 20 stars :) only thing I think should be added at this point is a set of spectrum filters, and a set of negative filter Other wise, great app. I guess Ill rate again if I find any more missing filters. Thank you Tiffen!

Photo fx is another excellent well developed app from the developer of "Light" & "Cropulator" also the Tiffen Company app Cool fx. Photo fx might be the best photo filter/editing app made for the iPhone. Easy to use, well developed & a great user friendly interface. If you dont own Photo fx yet... Your photos are lacking that wow factor! A MUST BUY !!!

I trusted Tiffen in my film days. This little digital app is just so logical and flexible! Like a bag of Tiffen glass and a darkroom all in one. Goodbye other editing apps. I have tried them all. Some are quite good. But nothing compares to this. Really worth the slightly higher price, and then some.

Love this app, especially for portraits, animal and food photography. Makes editing photos and improving them so easy!

Ive been using this to edit all my instagrams for a week, and made it to the popular page twice with the photos Ive edited with this!! Thats never happened before. This is the closet thing you can get to Lightroom on an app.. Its a super powerful app and lets you do layers! Ive used literally every photo editing app in the app store and this is my favorite. Brilliant! Easy 5 stars, and worth every penny I spent.

There has not been an update to this app in 2 years. UI is unpolished and feels cheap. Avoid. Save your monies.

There are many photo filter apps on the iPhone now, I know because Ive tried a few. Yet, this is the first one that actually can improve my photos in a way that changing the saturation, levels or contrast cant- things I could do in any application. These simulate real photo filters and are designed to improve portraits, landscapes and in fact any kind of photo you might take. They arent wacky transform filters to play around with, though they can be fun to use. I use them to alter photos from other cameras as well.

While its no Photoshop replacement, this app is superb for on-the-fly editing. If you want to send a spur-of-the-moment photo to friends or your favorite social-networking site, or want to post to your blog while traveling, this app will deliver pleasing results. I had to decided whether to choose an app with more manual features, or something like PhotoFX which is filter based. At the end of the day, filters were the right way to go. You soon get used to what kind of results to expect from the various filters, so that you dont have to rely entirely on what you are seeing on the screen, which is extremely useful when you are editing in daylight. There are so many filters packed into this app that, if you do decide to go the filter route, then choosing PhotoFX is a no-brainer. My iPhone is has never frozen while using this app, even when Ive created several layers of filters. However, I do usually set smaller aspect ratios because I do mainly use this for sending photos to Facebook, so higher resolutions are superfluous. All in all, worth every penny...

Always my first choice. Excellent quality and a huge range of effects. Update: Still an elegant and amazing tool for the serious iphonographer. I dont know what people are talking about when they say this app is too simple. Its all about giving you the freedom to create your own unique style, beginning with every basic filter you could possibly need, each with full adjustability for just the right look, and then allowing infinite layering to create a rich, deep effect. You can even paint the filters where you please. Ive been using this app since its debut and have never been disappointed.

Its a shame, but its apparent The Tiffen Company has abandoned this app. Its unfortunate, because they make some pretty awesome photo editing applications for Mac. It appears theyre just going to let this thing die a slow death. Used to be my go-to for filters but now will be deleted...

Amazing app for HDR edits. Period.

Have used this app quite extensively over the last few days, I cannot find anything to fault it on ... and everyting else to rave about!!! Everything it does, it does really well. The UI is slick and responsive and the resultant images are nothing short of spectacular. This should be in the top 10 of any wishlist for an aspiring iPhoneographer. Well done!
